The Primate Ethology & Endocrinology (PEE) Lab.
Located in the Dept. of Anthroology at UT Austin, the PEE Lab is equipped to analyze primate urine for metabolites related to stress, growth, and development. In the lab we will run Enzyme Immunoassays (ELISAs) for specific biomarkers, and we will prepare samples for Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) to take a metabolomics approach to understand ape puberty, social stress, and the physiology underlying relationships. We also are leveraging machine learning to analyze behavior and the micro-movements indicative of affective states.
Meet the Team
Currently I am advising three PhD students: Izzi Clark, Riley Derby, and Blessing Apamaku. (Congrats to Rachel Voyt for successfully defending your Phd in Nov 2024!)
(Note: I am not accepting PhD students for Fall 2025, but if you are a student in Austin, TX, interested in volunteering in the lab, please email me!)
